Educational Therapy

Jennifer Wharton, Educational Therapist; CA-MT, AET/P

Educational Therapy is designed to meet a student's individual needs. My integrative and collaborative approach utilizes multiple modalities to capitalize on each student's strengths and develop the skills necessary to foster independent and effective learning. By building a genuine relationship with every student, I can create a positive learning environment in which students feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and celebrate accomplishments.

I believe learning should be engaging, thought provoking, and enduring.

What is Educational Therapy?

Educational therapy demystifies learning problems and stimulates clients’ awareness of their strengths so they can use those strengths to their best advantage to overcome or compensate for areas of weakness. Educational therapists create and implement a treatment plan that utilizes information from a variety of sources including the client’s social, emotional, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological context.

TESTIMONIALS

Jennifer has worked with our son for the past two years and he has blossomed into a curious and thoughtful student. He is now performing at grade level and his self esteem has skyrocketed. He no longer dreads going to school and has a fresh outlook on his work. We owe a debt of gratitude to Jennifer for our son's progress.

 - Kathleen S.

My 11 year old son has been working with Jennifer for the last year and we have seen a lot of positive growth.  He is more engaged at school and he feels the benefits of his successes. Jennifer is incredibly knowledgable, educated, and committed.  She has been invaluable to my son and a tremendous resource to me as a parent.  - Lauren S.

Our 2nd grade daughter has been working with Jennifer for about a year now. Her reading skills have improved greatly and she now enjoys reading! She especially loves her sessions with Jennifer, and for a 2nd grader to look forward to her Educational Therapy sessions says a lot about Jennifer's approach and technique. Jennifer is very encouraging and positive which leads to great results.

- David L.

Our daughter has worked with Jennifer for the last 2 years, beginning in second grade because learning to read felt like an unattainable struggle. Since then our daughter has been diagnosed wtih learning disabilities and Jennifer has been able to target her weaknesses and develop a program to get her reading well. Our child enjoys her sessions with Jennifer, it actually brings joy to her day. Jennifer is a skilled Educational Therapist and we are thrilled that our daughter has developed a love of reading and now shows much greater confidence as a learner. - Robert H.
